BRB Staff Predictions (Week Eleven): NY Jets at Houston Texans
The Houston Chronicle reports that Brian Hoyer will not play on Sunday vs. the Jets, with T.J. Yates starting and newly signed Brandon Weeden backing up. Beyond these guys, the only bright spot on the Texans offense has been DeAndre Hopkins who proves over and over again that he may have a few of the best hands in the National Football League. He just has great enthusiasm and he loves the game, loves the game and tries to take advantage of every one of his opportunities. In the other, they were aided in their quest for victory by Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert, who is still inexplicably dropping wide-open, perfectly thrown passes from Andy Dalton even as you read this.
“I’m good”, Hopkins said, per the Texans. “We understand that. You’ve got to take what the defense is giving you”. Last night, T.J. Yates threw a jump ball up for Hopkins when he was cloaked by a defender. The 4-5 Texans had an impressive win against the Bengals last week, but their offense is not going to scare anyone, especially with Yates at the helm.
Safety Dion Bailey didn’t practice this week and will miss his second straight game with a high ankle sprain. “There’s a couple different factors that are playing into it”. But the moves that Maccagnan, the former Texans’ director of college scouting, made earlier in 2015 certainly will pose challenges for a Houston team that suddenly is trying to fight it’s way into the playoffs.
“I was telling myself that each week, but nothing was changing”, said Pryor, who had 60 tackles in 16 games last season.
“It’s not up to my standards and what I look for or what my teammates and organization looks for”, Cromartie said this week. Yeah, I mean it’s different, yeah, it’s definitely different.
I’m guessing the Lions still haven’t come down to earth after beating the Packers at Lambeau for the first time in 25 years last week, so they might be flat in this game. Gang Green must put the sting of last week’s 22-17 loss to Rex Ryan’s Bills behind them and forge ahead to keep pace with Buffalo and the Steelers in the AFC wild card race. “I don’t know if he has any weaknesses”.
After sitting out Wednesday’s practice, Fitzpatrick was back to work Thursday and according to head coach Todd Bowles, their main passer is ready for the Texans as long as he does not have any setbacks.
