Savannah State University officers are investigating a shooting at the Student Union.
Established in 1890, Savannah State is a historically black university with a total enrollment of approximately 5,000 students.
But the university said later that the lockdown had been lifted.
Investigators say the shooting happened at the student union.
“The campus lockdown has been lifted”. “The investigation into tonight’s shooting is ongoing”, the email said.
The campus is located in the heart of Savannah, Georgia’s oldest city.
According to Loretta Heyward, SSU, one male has been transported to the hospital with injuries.
Neither the victim nor the suspect was immediately identified.
