Breastfeeding Week raises awareness

To help educate patients, the community and employees about breastfeeding best practices, Montefiore Health Systemwill launch a week-long program in recognition of World Breastfeeding Week 2015, which will begin on Monday, August 3.

The campaigns call for more family-friendly workplace and public policies.

Speakers at the press conference highlighted SB 219 as an example of one of those polices.

The Clermont Women, Infants and Children’s office will be among three Lake County health agencies participating in a celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, starting tomorrow. Jeb Bradley said they plan to push for the bill’s passage next year.

Prime bill sponsor, state Sen. This year, the week will be celebrated 176 countries. Women make up half the workforce and are the primary breadwinners in 41% of families with children. “Secondly, it would require these accommodations for up to two years after birth”.

The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore is consistently named in U.S. News’ “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals”. It’s their right to do so. That’s why I introduced the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. “We have equipped our staff with information and resources to help support new mothers who would like to breastfeed, but may have questions about doing so”. Employers with fewer than 50 employees wouldn’t have been subject to the requirements.

“We welcome the Government of China’s leadership and commitment to create a culture of breastfeeding from birth in hospitals, at home and in public and work spaces”.

Christine Dodson is founder of Mamava, a Vermont-based company that used the Burlington worldwide Airport for its lactation suite prototype and now has them installed at other airports and other businesses. Montefiore providers will explain methods for holding the baby, how to change positions while feeding and tips moms can use to help navigate common breastfeeding problems like pain. At work we had a place to pump and the break time to do it. It was when we traveled for business that we ran in to challenges, often having to pump in restrooms, cars, and storage closets.

Bandy said support for breastfeeding benefits the community through healthier citizens, a stronger economy and healthier environment through savings in health care expenses, increased family connection, and reduced post-consumer waste from formula tins.

Many mums, including some of the biggest celebrities, proudly breastfeed their children and some of the stars don’t even mind sharing their intimate moments with fans.
