Brendan Gallagher breaks two fingers stopping shot, out indefinitely

Canadiens coach Michel Therrien announced after the game that he would undergo surgery on Monday for two fractured fingers, and would be out indefinitely.
Veteran Alex Semin stepped into Gallagher’s place in the lineup, a move that the Canadiens might have to rely on as they adjust to Gallagher’s extended absence.
It was Galchenyuk’s third goal of the season to go with 10 assists. It was there at Islanders captain John Tavares scored his tenth of the season a short wrister that counted despite the net being dislodged. P.K. Subban’s 228-game streak is the only active one longer than Gallagher’s on the Canadiens.
Montreal has now defeated the Islanders in six straight encounters and in nine of the last 10.
Montreal made it 2-1 four minutes later on a rifled shot from Tomas Fleischmann who got it done while shorthanded on an Islanders power play unassisted.
On the opening goal by Tavares, Price gave up an uncharacteristically juicy rebound on Travis Hamonic’s shot from the point.
The Habs and Isles played a very even start to the game, looking like two teams that played each other two nights ago. Winger Kyle Okposo jumped on the puck, circled Price and fed Tavares for the easy tap-in at 18:41 of the first.
Fleischmann gave the home team the lead on a great individual play with 5:51 left in the second.
Desharnais scored the equalizer on the power play at the 9:37 of the second.
Galchenyuk restored the Canadiens’ lead on the power play at 16:31. RW Sven Andrighetto, called up on Saturday, made his season debut for the Canadiens…. The speedy forward finished the game with 10:32 of ice time. Montreal scratched D Jarred Tinordi and C Bud Holloway, who was recalled Sunday morning, while C Torrey Mitchell and D Alexei Emelin remained on injured reserve, both with lower body injuries…. He is now 11-3-3 all time versus the Isles.
