Brewers, Mariners make trade
Friday afternoon, reports began rolling in that the Milwaukee Brewers, who have already made several deals this week, weren’t done on the trade market.
The Mariners completed a small trade with the Brewers, swapping minor league players on the 40-man roster.
Flores, 23, does not profile as an everyday player in the majors, so this is a move for depth on the Brewers’ roster. He is a left-handed hitter without much pop but knows the strike zone and sprays line drives to all fields.
Flores’ 12 games of Major League Baseball experience come from his time previous year with the NY Yankees. 308 with nine homers in 87 games split between the Yankees’ and Mariners’ Triple-A affiliates in 2015.
Flores, who came to the Mariners organization from the Yankees in the Dustin Ackley trade, saw his season come to an end after suffering a broken ankle August 15.
Flores is out of minor-league options but might not be ready physically to try to make the Brewers’ club in the spring.
Sardinas, 22, heads to his third organization in less than a year after being dealt from the Rangers to the Brewers in exchange for Yovani Gallardo in January.
Sardinas spent most of last season with Class AAA Colorado Springs, playing in 103 games. 196 with a. 240 OBP. He hit. 282 with 17 doubles, five triples, a homer, 33 RBI and 16 stolen bases.
He was rated a solid prospect in 2013 and 2014 with the Rangers.
