Bride Sends Bill to No-Show Guest Whose Babysitter Bailed, Report
Jessica Baker talks about receiving a bill for a wedding she missed.
Jessica Baker, 33, from Andover Minnesota, had planned to attend her relative’s wedding in late August, but had to stay home when their children’s babysitter called in sick.
In this case, Baker said she has already thrown the bill away, so it looks like she won’t be reimbursing the couple.
We’re guessing Jessica and her husband aren’t planning to pay the bill, though.
“I guess I don’t know what the right answer would have been, what the right thing to do would have been”. Maybe we could understand if they missed a meal of gold-flecked Beluga caviar but walleye? Her mother said she couldn’t make it, so they weren’t able to go to the wedding on August. 29. “Just insane. I certainly didn’t think it would get this amount of attention”.
Baker told ABC News that she may follow the advice of one Facebook user and donate the cost of the meal to charity, making sure to send the receipt to the bride and groom. Most newlyweds find it hard enough to get thank-you notes to everyone within a timely manner, so delivering a bill within weeks of the nuptials is kind of remarkable.
Baker laughed as she told the story to the KARE 11 reporter.
Viewers on KARE’s Facebook page had plenty to say about the situation.

She has no plans on paying it – and she shouldn’t, according to one wedding etiquette expert. They also chose not to call the bride and groom or any relatives to let them know they would not be in attendance.

A BRIDE in Minnesota sent her wedding guests a bill for $US75 ($106) after they didn’t turn up to the reception. Rogers also noted that the general rule is to figure that 10 percent more or less guests will actually show up for the big day and plan accordingly.
