Brides angry about Lincoln store’s closing; police dispatched to scene last night
“Thousands” of British brides may not receive their wedding dresses in time for their big day after a huge American supplier declared bankruptcy.
Many women across the country took to social media. Alfred Angelo has not confirmed that all of its stores will close.
The employee said she could not confirm this. “I wish they would have called and warned us or told us”, said mother of the bride Shirley Chabala.
People who left the store Thursday evening told 10/11 it was closing for good at 8:00pm. In Riverside, customers said they were blindsided by a call Thursday morning that warned them to pick up their dresses by 6 p.m. or they might never see them again.
Although the store didn’t have Lofton’s dress, they were able to give her a sample dress. “So I either get to not be in my sister’s wedding or be the only one wearing something different”.
Pinilis had ordered and paid about $1,350 for six bridesmaid dresses for her September wedding – and the dresses supposedly were available for pickup at the chain’s store in the Short Pump Station shopping center on West Broad Street in Henrico County.
A sign at the bridal retailer’s location in Tampa told customers with concerns to call Miami-based attorney Patricia Redmond at 305-789-3553, television station WFTS reported.
Before the doors closed, she received two veils, a dress preservation kit and hair comb – but no gowns.
“If I didn’t, I don’t know what I would do because I wouldn’t have my dream dress”, Stoltz said.
“Am I going to get it?”
“It’s a frightful experience, ” said Samantha Capozzola of Syracuse, who was at the store with her fiance, Chris LaCroix.
FOX 5 reached out to the San Diego store and to the Florida law firm handling the bankruptcy case, Stearns Weaver Miller Weissler Alhadeff & Sitterson, for comment, but has not heard back. “This is ridiculous! We as brides, we need to know this stuff”, Stoltz said.
Competitor David’s Bridal said it would offer 30 percent discounts to brides and 20 percent discounts to bridesmaids left without dresses. But about a half-dozen other stores in the metro area that sell Alfred Angelo gowns were concerned about how they would manage outstanding orders.
