Brie Larson finds her voice and best-actress Oscar in ‘Room’
Brie Larson took home the Academy Award for Best Actress last night, thanks to her spectacularly well-received role as a victim of kidnapping and sexual abuse in Room.
Although Larson, who started working as a child actor was told at the time the move to Los Angeles was impermanent and for her acting career, she now realises the move occurred because her parents had divorced.
She said the role helped her break free of her own personal boundaries.
No word yet from Erica Enders, but it’s probably because she’s too busy dominating the track and all that good stuff.
Because the Academy Awards bring together so many top talents, the wings of the stage become an impromptu meeting place for stars across genres.
“When I was the most blown away was when I saw this attractive gold thing that they had made”, Ehrlich said, referring to a hoop that connected the dress around Larson’s neck.
InStyle caught up with the Oscar-winning actress backstage in the press room, where she told us that her mood could be described by the song, “I’m in Love with My Life”, by Phases. “Really love what you’re doing, but we’d love you to come back with a jean miniskirt and high heels'”. “I put on what was comfortable”. The 26 year old was nominated for her role in Room, the film adaptation of Emma Donoghue’s 2010 bestselling novel.
The critically-acclaimed film about a woman (Larson) and her little boy (Jacob Tremblay) being held captive in a 10×10 room is out on DVD and Blu-ray Tuesday, March 1. “A jean mini skirt does not make me feel sexy, it makes me feel uncomfortable”.
Larson got her big break as the daughter on Showtime’s United States of Tara and this was her very first Oscars nomination.
Next up for the star is Kong: Skull Island, which is set to be released in 2017.
