Brie Larson to replace Jennifer Lawrence in Glass Castle adaptation
If a deal happens, don’t expect much movement on this until the actress finishes her (deserved) victory laps for Room, but The Glass Castle definitely seems like a worthy follow-up.
If Larson does choose to do the film, it would reunite her with her helmer Destin Cretton, who directed the critically acclaimed drama “Short Term 12”, a film where Larson first earned early awards consideration for her perf.
Now, TheWrap is reporting Larson has selected an appropriately buzzy follow-up pic in The Glass Castle, an adaptation of the bestselling memoir by Jeanette Walls. Walls’ eccentric mother and alcoholic father would stir the the children’s imagination with hope as a distraction to their poverty. Marti Noxon (“Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” “Fright Night”) penned the script that tells the true story of Walls’ childhood, being raised by her dysfunctional parents.
Her upcoming projects include “Battle of the Sexes”, “Wiener-Dog”, “Free Fire” and “Kong: Skull Island”. She recently appeared in “Trainwreck”. Her parents, Rex and Rose Mary Walls, were free spirits who lead a nomadic existence.
The “Hunger Games” actress signed to produce and star “The Glass Castle” in 2013, but eventually dropped it as it’s been delayed for several years already, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Larson’s schedule, which is starting to stack up, might keep her from the role. Variety said the film couldn’t find a male lead role and so JLaw left the project.
