Brief: Courthouse open for National Voter Registration Day

Indiana is turning to digital tools to get voters signed up by the registration deadline to vote in the November election.

Illinois’ residents can register online, in person at the office of the election authority, at Driver’s license facilities, with deputy registrars who are appointed in each jurisdiction, or via mail using the Illinois Voter Registration Application available in English and Spanish.

National Voter Registration Day was founded in 2012 by voter advocacy groups.

Floridians have several options to exercise their right to vote – by absentee, early voting, or at the polls on Election Day.

The Oregon Student Association and The Bus Project emphasize that these upcoming elections will impact young voters across Oregon and the nation.

The League of Women Voters is hosting a voter registration drive Tuesday and again after a large naturalization ceremony Wednesday.

Eligible citizens 18-years-old or older may register to vote.

Secretary of State Natalie Tennant announces online registration Tuesday at BridgeValley.

The group will also set up a voter registration desk that will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m.to 1 p.m.in the Memorial Union.

“I feel a lot of youth our age feel like they don’t have a voice and voting doesn’t matter because they aren’t going to change anything”, Cavill says as she prepares her registration table.

Another recent effort to encourage voter registration in Alabama includes Merrill recruiting the head football coaches of Alabama and Auburn to star in informational videos. Since January 2013, 15 states have introduced bills that make it harder to vote, particularly for people of color and the economically disadvantaged.

“Registering to vote is simple in Indiana”, said Secretary Lawson.

Alicia Pierce with the Texas Secretary of State office says it’s not to be taken lightly.

The next statewide election is the Presidential Preference Primary in March.
