Brief Facebook outage on desktop and mobile causes mass panic
Facebook, the Social networking website on Thursday night went down at around 10:05 pm showing “sorry, something went wrong” message.
“Facebook was down, people took to the streets waving pictures in people’s faces screaming “DO YOU LIKE THIS????, TELL ME YOU LIKE THIS!!!!”, one Twitter user wrote”. Facebook had 1.25 billion monthly active users at the end of September previous year. Facebook reportedly hung because it tried to upload a 360-degree video.
Shares of Facebook appear to not have been affected by the outage, however. Most users reported that they couldn’t reach the site at all, and some reported that they couldn’t log in. Downdetector.com’s Facebook map showed outages in North America, Europe, Australia and India earlier on Thursday.
“Facebook is not a Law Enforcement issue, please don’t call us about it being down, we don’t know when FB will be back up”, Brink said at the time.
It looks like most of the outage pockets are on the northeast and west coast of the USA, and in parts of Europe.
“We immediately discovered the issue and fixed it, and everyone should now be able to connect”, says Facebook in a statement. The #facebookdown theme turned a worldwide trending merchandise on the messaging platform.
