Britain accused of security lapse in case of jihadi who fled
She travelled to Syria in 2012 and married a Swedish man called Abu Bakr, who is since believed to have been killed.
The masked jihadi who features in a new IS propaganda video was probably interviewed by Nos television in 2014, the Dutch public broadcaster said on Tuesday. Despite being banned from travelling, he took a coach to Paris from Victoria Station with his family before resurfacing in Syria, posting a photo of himself with a rifle and a newborn baby.
Dhar, 32, is a father of four who was borna Hindu and converted to Islam after marrying a Muslim, according to the BBC and other news outlets.
Dhar tweeted after fleeing to Syria: “What a shoddy security system Britain must have to allow me to breeze through Europe to the Islamic State”.
“Even if the correct procedures were followed, I have evidence that they were far too weak”, Andy Burnham, the home affairs spokesman for the opposition Labour Party, said in parliament.
“He was well-known to the authorities having been arrested six times on terror-related offences before being placed on bail in 2014”. “It was when he failed to comply with those bail conditions that it’s emerged he had absconded”. “Could you please contact the police on the telephone number listed above as a matter of urgency”. “It is clear he had left the country long before this letter was sent”.
Mr Burnham said: “Does this in any way sound adequate to the seriousness of the charges concerned?”
While he’s been widely reported to be the man in the clip, some remain unconvinced that Dhar is definitely the man in the video.
But she also has said that the man in the video does not look like her brother. He is thought to have left the U.K.in late 2014 or 2015.
Isa’s grandfather, Henry Dare, has said that he believes the youngster is being used as a “shield” by the terrorists.
Ms Dhar said: “I don’t think it is (Rumaysah), personally, to be honest”. “He was a very pleasant boy, and I know it may be hard to believe but he still is, and I still believe that he still can be that person”, she added.
Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, said Britain had a “duty of care” to Isa Dare.
Security services have completed an “initial assessment” of the identity of the masked individual with a British accent who appears in the film.
Meanwhile, reports claimed a young child seen at the end of the video dressed in military-style clothes and wearing a black headscarf with an IS logo on it was Isa Dare, the son of Grace “Khadija” Dare, from Lewisham, south-east London.
