British Airways Comair plane crash lands in Johannesburg after undercarriage
A British Airways Comair plane made an emergency landing at OR Tambo airport in Johannesburg, South Africa, after a failure with the landing gear.
The plane had been used on the Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg route.
One passenger who was on board the flight applauded the manner in which the pilot handled the situation.
“Oxygen masks came down and the plane was at an angle as we touched down”.
Pictures circulating on social media suggested the main left hand wheel collapsed.
The airport is using an alternative runway while they deal with the problem, causing delays to other flights.

The aircraft involved was a Boeing 737-400, data compiled by Bloomberg shows.
It said the aircraft was on the runway for a short period performing standard landing procedures when the crew noticed the “unusual vibration”.
He said passengers would need to contact their respective airlines to check on their flight status.
Emergency services helped passengers and crew safely off the plane. “None of the 94 passengers and six crew on board were injured, the airport said, pledging to investigate the incident”.
The company said it and the relevant authorities would conduct the necessary investigation into what happened.
