British teen nets super role as Spider-Man
A biracial Spider-Man has officially been introduced to the Marvel universe, with the first issue of the re-launched “Spider-Man” comic, featuring an African-American and Puerto Rican Spidey by the name of Miles Morales, hitting stores last Sunday. He only debuted in Hollywood in 2012 with the movie The Impossible, which was followed by Locke (2013) and How I Live Now (2013).
Relative unknown Tom Holland has been announced as the surprise replacement of Andrew Garfield in the Spider-Man film franchise.
Captioned “Bored”, “More fun more fun,” and “Fun fun fun,” the videos might have been an early hint that Holland was close to capturing the coveted Marvel movie role. Prior to the official announcement of Holland’s casting, Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game) was said to have landed it. While Holland is deemed to be less known than Butterfield, it looks like the ex- will be quickly boosting his resume as he is set to appear in the next Captain America film alongside blockbuster actors Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, and Robert Downey, Jr. Who has final say regarding how the character is used?
Feige then added that part of the agreement made between Sony and Marvel would allow for some of the MCU characters to appear in future Spider-Man films. All in all, we are off to a roaring start.
With a new director in Jon Watts and Tom as the lead, the movies are expected to take a new creative direction.
