British Tourist Missing in Sea at Bulgaria’s Sunny Beach Resort
Mr McKen was also an amateur footballer and played for Bulwell FC reserves in Nottingham.
A second person was reported safe and is recovering in a medical centre in the Black Sea resort.
Ethan McKen, 24, was at the Black Sea resort Sunny Beach, near Burgas on the east coast, when he became lost in the water in the early hours of yesterday.
His friend managed to get back to shore and was treated in a nearby hospital, but unfortunately Ethan – who wasn’t a strong swimmer – wasn’t as lucky.
His parents and brother were too upset to comment last night and were being consoled by relatives at the family’s Nottingham terraced home.
His aunt added: ‘We have spoken to his friends and all we know is this big wave came and took him and his friend out to sea.
“We want a picture of Ethan out there so if he is washed up people will recognise him”.
A spokesman from Club 18-30, which is owned by Thomas Cook, said one of its customers staying at its Sunny Beach resort went missing on Saturday morning shortly after arriving on holiday with a group of five friends.
Travel agent Thomas Cook is working with local authorities in the search.
The UK Foreign Office confirmed the death of a British national in Bulgaria and said it was providing consular support to the family.
“We remain committed to offering the missing person’s friends and family every assistance at this worrying time”.
