Britney Spears to present award at Sunday’s VMAs
The MTV Video Music Awards is an annual treat for music fans.
Nicki Minaj will open the MTV Video Music Awards at 9pm EST.
Last year’s broadcast brought in 8.3 million viewers and was the number one cable telecast of last summer with those aged 12 to 34 years old. I helped tell their story.
The video for the Swift’s latest single will premiere during the pre-show. (Because that’s how the Internet works and the future is now.) It’s an adaptable vehicle that’s compatible with varying tastes and houses an array of genres, and therefore upholds MTV’s original mandate.
Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran will battle it out with top nominee Taylor Swift at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards tonight.
Predictably, Cyrus and many other women will probably strip down to dress up. Everybody was copying the dance moves.
Moving away from the bombast of past performances, when Kanye took the VMA stage in 2013 he went for a simple, stripped down presentation, keeping himself in shadow the whole time. In an interview with ETonline, VMAs executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic said that Kanye was “honored” and “humble” upon learning that he had been selected as this year’s Video Vanguard recipient. Taylor Swift garnered four nominations, including Video of the Year for “Bad Blood” and Best Female Video and Best Pop Video for “Blank Space”, somewhat confusingly. A few years after the event was introduced in 1984, hip-hop began immersing itself into the 24-hour music channel’s regular programming and rappers became some of the most eclectic performers on the set list.
However, VMA credibility doesn’t lie exclusively in its flair for making headlines.
Kanye West will receive the prestigious Video Vanguard award.
The next year, he took home his first Moonman ever for “Jesus Walks“. We hear s-t gets insane when those guys get together.
But, back then Britney Spears was clinging to a nearly non-existent shred of dignity after a series of personal problems, meltdowns (remember her taking an umbrella to a photographer?) and that infamous head-shaving.
J. Lo blew everyone else out of the water when she stepped out in this absolutely STUNNING cut-out gown splashed with hundreds and thousands of diamantes a year ago.
Tune into the 2015 MTV VMAs on Sunday, August 30 at 9 p.m. EST on MTV.
