Broadway Carpool Karaoke wows
Corden is a Tony victor himself – he was awarded Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Play in 2012 for his performance in “One Man, Two Guvnors”. Even if this bit is just me singing to Mariah Carey, it’s still on the show.

James, Lin-Manuel, Audra, Jesse and Jane promptly team up to perform some classic Broadway tunes including One Day More from Les Miserables and Seasons of Love from Rent while driving through NY. With the Tony Awards set to air Sunday, host James Corden rounded up some Broadway greats for a show-stopping round of Carpool Karaoke on The Late Late Show.
Corden who is hosting the 70th annual Tony Awards on June 12 sought hosting advice from the group of stars. “Hamilton” has received 16 nominations, more than any other show in the award show’s history. To answer that question, we’d probably need to actually score tickets to “Hamilton“, but we’re honestly just glad Russell Crowe isn’t singing. Later, Corden asked Ferguson: “Which do you prefer: Theater or money?”
“With the inner exchange between the audience, it’s why you keep coming back”, Ferguson says. The karaoke ride culminated with the Broadway legends and TV host belting out an epic rendition of Les Misérables’ “One Day More“. – McDonald can hit those high notes.
But Corden found that most recording artists said no – until Mariah Carey proved to be a sport and said OK.
He added: “It’s an fantastic time to see excerpts from all of these incredible Broadway shows that you might not ever be able to see”.
The host of The Late, Late Show said the idea came from a previous show’s skit, when he sang with George Michael in a auto.
Broadway lover or not, it’s well worth your time to see this much talent packed into one SUV.
