Brock Lesnar Reportedly Failed A Second Drug Test
Lesnar was able to compete on July 9 at UFC 200, because neither of the test results were available at the time.
The substance for which Lesnar tested positive was not disclosed, per USADA policy, and will not be, unless the fighter discloses it, until the process is concluded.
Jones apparently “lost out on an eight-figure payday” due to his failed test, but Lesnar walked away with .5 million after beating Hunt.
He left the door open to a possible UFC return after defeating Hunt, but the positive tests results could lead to an extended ban that would ensure the July 9 fight at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas was his last in the organization. The former UFC light heavyweight champion tested positive for Hydroxy Clomiphene and Letrozole, which are considered estrogen blockers. Official UFC Anti-Doping Program information and athlete resources are available at UFC.USADA.org.
Now we knew he tested for banned substances the day of as well.
Releasing a statement to the Associated Press after the initial failure, Lesnar proclaimed his innocence, promising he would “get to the bottom of this”. His camp declined to comment on the recent development when contacted by Rolling Stone.
Now dealing with the ramifications of the failed test himself, Lesnar’s future in MMA is in doubt.
The UFC waived a rule in its anti-doping policy that states a retired fighter must notify Usada four months out of a comeback fight to be placed in the testing pool.
With six picks in the draft coming from the NXT roster and a whole heap of intrigue about where the company’s new, younger talent is going, there is much to debate in the hours and days ahead. All those questions and more will be answered in Tuesday night’s brand split, which happens on the first live edition of WWE SmackDown. His appearance at UFC 200 marked Lesnar’s first professional fight since December 2011. He famously responded to those allegations prior to UFC 200, claiming, “I’m a white boy and I’m jacked – deal with it”.
Lesnar defeated Hunt by unanimous decision at UFC 200, however Hunt has since slammed the WWE star and the UFC itself, labelling the 39-year-old a “f****** cheat”.
Brock Lesnar’s issues with the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency are just getting started. I mean even the other passport stuff, which is supposed to be important for testing, they woulda had none of that from Brock because of the exemption. We need an association where we can have our voices heard.
Where the situation goes from here remains to be seen.
Lesnar passed multiple drug tests before failing the one taken from a June 28th sample.
