Brock Osweiler gets start for Broncos as Peyton Manning heals

Broncos coach Gary Kubiak decided to make the switch Monday in the aftermath of Denver’s 29-13 loss to Kansas City in which Manning was picked off four times and had a rock-bottom 0.0 passer rating in 2 1-2 quarters of work.

“All the attention is toward getting (Manning) getting healthy”, Kubiak said.

Kubiak wouldn’t speculate how long Manning might be out. “I’m disappointed in myself”. “Certainly, like I said, one day after as you could expect – disappointed about the loss yesterday”. Kubiak said he planned to start Manning at Chicago on Sunday if he’s healthy. I hate to see him playing this way too, even as a Tom Brady fanboy.

Manning came into this game dealing with various health problems, including to his right shoulder, right foot and ribs. We believe that scenario is highly unlikely, but hey, we also never thought we would see Manning get pulled from a game.

It was such a good performance, the Chiefs offense enjoyed sitting on the sideline watching them stifle Manning and the Broncos. “I needed to make probably that tough decision there”.

“He’ll be fine. He’ll bounce back and hopefully get healthy”. And they’re finally doing it – they’re just not going to admit that Peyton was benched for not being good anymore.

Currently, the Broncos are leading the AFC West with a (7-2) record, but the back to back losses have a few people concerned. His brother, Eli Manning, played with plantar fasciitis in 2009 and did not miss any games that season. I’ve gotta do what’s best for the player, for the team. “It’s something that I wanted to get done [Monday] because I wanted the team to know our direction”.

This is not the Peyton Manning we’re used to seeing.

Pro Football Focus gave Manning the worst grade they have ever given to a quarterback in a game. This is different. It’s all yours starting today, so it’s not like you all of a sudden got put in the game on Sunday.

The first time K.C. played Denver, it was a Thursday night game in the second week of the season.

Meantime, I’ll cling to the life raft that was floated by National Football League reporters Monday about his foot injury. Could that be the reason? “I wanted to go, I wanted to be out there for the team”.

Manning won’t practice this week nor will he suit up against the Bears, when rookie Trevor Siemian will be Osweiler’s backup.

“I’m not anxious. I’m not anxious at all”, Davis said. “He’s a great, great quarterback”.

The guy’s a hero, I’m saying, and it’s not the yards or touchdowns.

Osweiler’s first start comes against former Broncos coach John Fox and his staff, who know all about his strengths and tendencies.

“I don’t know what a partial tear feels like”. I’m going to continue to support him.

“Im the starter for this week at Chicago, but thats all it is, ” Osweiler said.
