Brock Osweiler makes first National Football League start on 25th birthday

Today’s Broncos vs Bears game should be a good one and could push the home team back into the postseason race.

Original story: The Peyton Manning drama continues. By all appearances, it was a tenuous marriage. He also hasn’t had any conversations with Brock Osweiler about planning for Sunday. Now Jay Cutler will be forced to go up against a tough defense in Denver while the Bears defense gets to attack Osweiler in his first National Football League start.

Denver snapped its two-game losing streak with a 17-15 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Manning is dealing with foot, rib, and shoulder injuries and was playing like the worst quarterback in the NFL.

While Ware expressed confidence he’ll be back in the lineup for the Broncos’ showdown with New England next week, there’s no timetable for Manning’s return.

The Bears’ season-long tease couldn’t reach.500, presenting the ultimate ultimatum: if the 4-6 Bears want to inch back into the outskirts of the playoff conversation, they’ll have to beat the Packers at Lambeau Field on Thanksgiving night. The Broncos own 34 this season. They gave up 34 points in consecutive weeks to the Bengals and the Jaguars(in London) and gave up the 40 to the Patriots but have not allowed over 17 in any other game.

His career-low 67.6 passer rating is even lower than Tim Tebow’s 72.9 in 2011 that forced GM John Elway to go after Manning in free agency. It was time to try something different.

The Bears didn’t get off to a good start offensively, and the Broncos made them pay as they scored on their first drive. He played last Sunday against Arizona, but penalties and a 19-0 deficit took Seattle out of its game plan and Lynch ended up with only eight carries in the loss to the Cardinals. “I’m kind of focused on the small picture of trying to get healthy”.

Injuries: Bears CB Bryce Callahan came out of the game late in the first quarter with what looked like an arm/hand issue.

The Broncos will look to Osweiler to jumpstart the offense, but the key rests in the run game. Brock Osweiler completed a pass to a wide-open Demaryius Thomas over the middle of the field. Before halftime, the quarterback led a 13-play, 82-yard drive that set up a field goal by going 7-for-8 and throwing in a 15-yard scramble. Fox and Gase have a lot of knowledge of the Broncos players including Manning’s replacement at quarterback, Brock Osweiler.

Osweiler isn’t looking at the bigger picture either. Most importantly, Osweiler didn’t turn the ball over, and he really didn’t threaten to. Don’t think that wasn’t a welcome relief for Kubiak.

“We have to keep believing”, he said.

If the Bears are able to have Forte play, they can use him and Jeremy Langford to form a great one-two punch.

Honestly, I can’t say I’ve felt this excited about a Chiefs defensive performance since Derrick Thomas and Company were roaming the range at Arrowhead. Luckily for him the defense got solid and held the bears to nothing with a 4th down stop. “And that’s a good combination”.

Osweiler showed a few promise last week, completing 14 of 24 passes for 146 yards and a touchdown with one interception.

Whether or not Osweiler is ready for the responsibility is anybody’s guess.
