Brock Osweiler will start in place of Peyton Manning against Patriots
Who was Saturday night’s choice?
The only problem the 6-foot-8 Osweiler appeared to be avoiding a strong Chicago pass rush. Osweiler has had the privilege of being mentored by not one, but two fantastic quarterbacks.
GETTING HEALTHY: The Bears got a few starters back. “I am so happy they all made it. But I am telling you, it’s not about me”.
“He did a really good job”.
They saw the Bears’ flaws, too.
“Peyton is frustrated by the fact that he’s injured”, Kubiak said.
While the reports haven’t been confirmed, it’s hard to imagine Manning finding a team willing to take a risk on him next season considering his recent poor play and the numerous injury concerns.
Kubiak said he wasn’t certain if Manning will practice this week or if he will back up Osweiler on Sunday. “I assume fans are buzzing on social media”. General manager and vice president for football operations John Elway wanted to have a young prospect on its roster after it signed Peyton Manning.
However, current analyst and former Indianapolis Colts’ head coach Tony Dungy responded with, ” I’m close to Peyton and I’ve not heard that”. “We blocked out that outside noise and we got the job done”.
Osweiler is the Broncos’ starting quarterback.
The Baltimore Ravens beat the St Louis Rams 16-13 but it came at a cost as they lost quarterback Joe Flacco for the year. Denver’s quarterback controversy is alive and swell. Osweiler got the task of being behind one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time, Peyton Manning.
Asked why he went for it rather than kick a field goal, Fox said: “I think we hadn’t made many trips down there, and when we had, we hadn’t scored touchdowns”.
“I knew that was coming”, Kubiak said. “Here’s the deal – we got healthier here today”. The host Texans (5-5) have won three games in a row for the first time since 2012. “Our offense and our team go as far as the running game will take us, so that falls on our shoulders”.
Manning deserves to be treated fairly.
“He wasn’t a first-time ever”, said Broncos left tackle Ryan Harris. “Brock did what we all knew what he could do”. “We’ll get it done, ‘” veteran tight end Owen Daniels recalled.
Kubiak, though, saved his praise for Osweiler. This one was on the offense, which totally bogged down in the second half. The Broncos were penalized eight times for 118 yards, including 93 yards against the defense. But the Broncos overcame that lopsided penalty count by having zero turnovers to the Bears’ two.
Kansas City’s 346-pound defensive lineman Dontari Poe was sent in at full-back for a one-yard touchdown run, the first of his career, in the match against San Diego – which finished in a 33-3 success for the Chiefs. They could go after the 6’7 raw-but-huge-potential Paxton Lynch from Memphis. That has to happen in the NFL. “It’s about us winning as a team”. And today we had guys step up.
“If you pay attention to what we do, we have a lot of that in our offense on every down, not just two-point plays, ” a condescending Fox said.
Osweiler can get better. But his best day came with Broncos backup Brock Osweiler. Osweiler’s presence at the podium – and a speech to his entire team the night before his first National Football League start – felt entirely comfortable.
Brock Osweiler’s performance in the Denver Broncos’ 17-15 win over the Chicago Bears Sunday was good enough to earn him another start. Also missing the game was Matt Forte, who is still nursing a left knee injury suffered two weeks ago versus the Minnesota Vikings. It showed that the running game improved quite a bit with Osweiler under center.
With the New England now less than a week away, questions are swirling in Denver as to whether or not Manning will be able to play against Brady and the unbeaten Patriots.
It was a sunny, but skin-numbing, late-November day near the shores of Lake MI. Fox and the coaching staff is keeping them in games until the final whistle which is a nice thing to see. The first half closed with a field goal drive by the Broncos behind Osweiler.
