Broncos cut QB Sanchez, save $3.5M

Sanchez failed to win the Broncos starting gig vacated by Peyton Manning’s retirement despite the fact that he was competing with two guys who have never thrown a pass in the NFL.

Denver released Sanchez Saturday after naming Trevor Siemian the starting quarterback earlier in the week.

The Broncos open the season Thursday night against Carolina Panthers, the team they beat in Super Bowl 50.

Dallas just confirmed the signing but didn’t specify what its plans are for Sanchez.

Davis was recently released by the Cleveland Browns. “… It was a tough situation to walk into”. Romo would miss the first seven games if he’s on that list. He made the Broncos’ roster each of the last two seasons and was active for 30 games.

Safety Shiloh Keo was put on the suspended/reserve list and does not count against the Broncos roster until after Week 2, when his suspension ends for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy relating to his DUI arrest in February.

Former Texas A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson, who signed before the preseason finale in case Showers got hurt, was among those waived.
