Broncos healthier as they prepare for Steelers
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger “has a chance” to play in Pittsburgh’s AFC divisional playoff game against the Denver Broncos, despite suffering a serious shoulder injury in the wild-card game Saturday night at Cincinnati.
Wide receiver Antonio Brown is in concussion protocol.
Jones started against the Browns with Roethlisberger as his only backup on the game day roster and replaced the third-year signal caller after Jones suffered an ankle injury on the second drive of the game.
Vontaze Burfict was suspended three games for Saturday’s hit on Antonio Brown.
Roethlisberger’s injured right shoulder is “sore”, but he said there apparently is no ligament damage and is “day to day”.
As the Broncos prepare for a rematch with the Steelers, whom they faced in a chippy Week 15 matchup, Head Coach Gary Kubiak recognized that the team could learn from the Bengals’ missteps.
“I don’t know what the doctors have said”, Jones said. “You got (Steelers linebacker coach) Joey Porter in the middle of the (expletive) field talking (expletive) to everybody and then when somebody says something to him… he isn’t even supposed to be on the (expletive) field”.
It is important to note, as the last line of the release does, that additional discipline could be forthcoming for other players and/or coaches in the Steelers-Bengals game. I don’t care what venue you’re in-basketball, football, hockey, or you’re at your neighborhood bar-spitting on somebody is unacceptable.
“We obviously worked really hard to get to where we’re at and we know we have a big test this week…”
Burfict will be suspended for three games at the start of the 2016 campaign for his decision to level Brown at the end of Saturday’s Wild Card tilt, the National Football League announced on Monday.
Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is ruling nothing out for his quarterbacks. This, along with a 15-yard penalty from Adam Jones, set Pittsburgh up for an easy field goal which would allow them to easily win the game. “I’ve seen him hit guys a lot worse where you might be sticking your elbow out to get contract”.
“I love revenge games”, Roby said.
