Broncos need to eliminate drops that plagued them vs. Steelers
Albeit in a losing effort, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger achieved a major milestone in Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos, passing Terry Bradshaw as the Steelers’ all-time leader in playoff passing yards, per ESPN Stats & Info.
Perhaps it’s only fitting these two quarterbacks meet in the AFC title game, since Manning didn’t get to suit up against New England on November 29 because of a foot injury.
Peyton Manning played from start-to-finish in Denver’s AFC divisional round win over Pittsburgh, helping the Broncos advance after his first complete, turnover-free game since Week 15 of last season.
Manning finished Sunday’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers 21-of-37 for 222 yards and did not throw a touchdown.
Both of these weaknesses can be overcome by the Broncos fixing one thing, and that is scoring touchdowns rather than field goals. You just got to play better all around football. That includes preparing for Brock Osweiler, who threw for 270 yards and a touchdown in Denver’s win over New England back in Week 12.
Here’s a look at what was said and who had the biggest impact in the Broncos thrilling win. Phillips shook off the hit and continued calling the defensive plays.
Denver then proceeded to have a long drive that lasted over six minutes to take the lead with three minutes left to play. No damage done, though. “At some point, it’s going to come down to doing what you do well better than what they try to do against it”. “He’s in there hollering”.
Said Roethlisberger: “Obviously we’ll be dealing with a little bit of pain and some limited movement here for a little bit but supposedly will heal on its own”. My momentum kind of just took me down, I guess.
Just before kickoff Sunday, a strong wind blew over the Rocky Mountains, wreaking havoc on passes and kicks alike, although Brandon McManus tied an National Football League playoff record by converting all five of his field-goal attempts and Chris Boswell made all three of his. “We felt like we had something pretty special”, he said. According to PFF, Bennie Fowler had two drops and Demaryius Thomas, C.J. I’m thinking of a fourth down we don’t make.
But rather than feel let down that his so-called fans didn’t know the difference between him and another player who happened to have the same number Redman used to wear, he chose to educate his critics.
