Broncos’ Peyton Manning Won’t Play Against Bears
John Fox will face off against his former team on Sunday afternoon, as the Chicago Bears square off against the Denver Broncos.
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning may have had one of the worst performances of his career on Sunday, but he did so etching his name in history.
Osweiler understands that this opportunity is something that might not last. Their first win was on Sunday, and Manning actually left the game in the third quarter because of an injury he suffered to his foot. He went for an MRI on his ribs Monday but didnt have the results.
“All the attention is toward getting (Manning) getting healthy”, Kubiak said.
Manning did not practice in the week leading up to Sunday’s game until Friday. That is what Denver Broncos Head Coach Gary Kubiak did today. “I ended up hurting the team”, said Manning after the game. “I’m disappointed about that”.
“Maybe that was wrong”, Manning said.
This is not the Peyton Manning we’re used to seeing.
“If you look back on it now, I have a hard time saying that’s why I played badly”, Manning said Sunday. “But I certainly didn’t play well, and I am disappointed about that”.
It got worse from there, and both the quarterback and coach – clearly not on the same page when it comes to what it will take to get the aching 39-year-old through the season – were shouldering the blame.
In fact, a few players told ESPN that Manning “had difficulty walking last week”. Were all in this week as a football team to get better and get ready to go play.. It was the low point of a season filled with struggles for Manning, who at 39 has seen a rapid decline over the past two years as his injuries begin to mount.
“First of all, it’s very exciting”, Osweiler said. But the injury continued to bother and limit him in the weeks that followed.
Im the starter for this week at Chicago, but thats all it is. Were focused on this week, then well re-evaluate next week. If the Broncos want even a chance of getting the Peyton of old back, they’d be wise to continue sitting him.
So, to prepare for his first career National Football League start, let’s familiarize ourselves with Osweiler, starting with what you probably already know about him: He’s super tall.
Manning was pulled out of Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs after going 5 of 20 with four interceptions and no touchdowns. The 6-8, 240-pounder has appeared in 14 games, all as a reserve, in four seasons, completing 31 of 54 passes for 305 yards with two touchdowns, one interception and a 78.1 passer rating. “I talked to him a little bit about it, and just kind of what it felt like”, Eli said.
And he would do it again this week, too. But I can promise you that not many people are going to be towing that line this week. I know he seems like hes Superman, but hes banged up.
