Broncos QB Brock Osweiler named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

Including the postseason, Denver is 16-3 in its last 19 home games against New England (since 1969).

PREDICTION: Betting against Tom Brady in a game that comes down to the final possessions would normally be a losing proposition.

Last week I mentioned what Brock Osweiler needed to do in order to lead the Denver Broncos to victory.

The Jets have lost four of five, with only one of those to an opponent now with a winning mark, New England. The Cardinals are just as good and the 49ers have nose-dived even more. Only Peyton Manning (539) and Brett Favre (508) had more than Marino.

It will instead be Tom Brady versus Brock Osweiler when the unbeaten New England Patriots visit the Denver Broncos on Sunday night with the possibility of claiming another AFC East title.

“It’s unfortunate – everyone deals with different injuries at different times”.

The Broncos defense has put the “D” back in Denver, but the new Orange Crush will be tested by a prolific Patriots offense.

The breakout came last week when Osweiler won his starting debut at Chicago when 11 of his 20 completions went to his tight ends, accounting for 146 of his 250 yards.

Even without Manning in the fold this has all the makings to be the game of the year, as Patriots-Broncos games usually do.

“We used to play against Shannon Sharpe every day on defense when I was here (from 1989-94)”, Phillips recalled. “He did a heck of a job”.

Since 2010, when he entered the league, Gronkowski has recorded 523 receiving yards and 46 touchdowns in the red zone in the regular season, both league-highs in the NFL. The guy’s a veteran quarterback who’s played and been through a lot. “I’ve been very appreciative for my situation”. The team is averaging only 22.2 points per game, which ranks 19th in the NFL. The Patriots are allowing a league-best 18.2 points and are second in the league with 32 sacks.

That means Manning, who was benched after throwing his fourth interception against Kansas City on November 15, will miss Denver’s game against New England on Sunday night as well as the game at San Diego on December 6, at the very least.

The Patriots will catch a break, however, with linebacker DeMarcus Ware officially listed as out for Sunday as he continues to recover from a back injury suffered two weeks ago. I know he’s a first-year player, but if you go back remember there was a time when Max was a starter for us near the end of camp, and then we got Evan, and now Max has played a lot of football at various places. If your defense doesn’t play disciplined, it could lead to big gains by us (though to be fair, it has been quite some time since I’ve seen undisciplined play from a Bill Belichick coached defense).

Brady also was often under heavy duress from Buffalo, facing pressure on 45 percent of his dropbacks. He had a season-low two catches for 37 yards against the Bills, and the Broncos would love a similar result. We’ve got the fantasy projections courtesy of numberFire. What helped so much last week was having a QB under center.

We can all agree that football players, especially quarterbacks, must approach each game devoid of sentimentality and emotions. “We’ve got to do everything better”.
