Broncos QB Brock Osweiler to start as Peyton Manning needs more time
Osweiler aims for third consecutive game with 295 or more yards passing….
Kubiak watched the workout live and said it went well.
Following that outing, Denver will close the season with a division matchup taking on the struggling San Diego Chargers. Coming just weeks before the playoffs, this decision will be a statement as to who the Denver Broncos feel gives them the best chance to win a championship. “That’s what I’m doing right now”, said Brock Osweiler, Denver Broncos quarterback. Osweiler won his first three starts replacing the injured Manning, but the Broncos have lost their last two games to the Oakland Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Peyton Manning is working out Saturday.
Earlier this week, coach Gary Kubiak said Manning would have a “big workout” Saturday to evaluate the his progress. He was back on the practice field last week, but suffered a setback on Friday. “We got him to a doctor I think Wednesday afternoon”.
“I need to shut up”, Kubiak said, laughing.
As it stands, the Broncos have an outside shot to land a first-round bye. “We get him out there practicing and covering everything in the meetings”. They are only anxious about the present future, not the ghosts of playoffs past or present.
And even though Thomas is in the midst of another big year statistically – 93 catches, 1,128 yards and five TDs – he has a dozen drops, many at crunch time. Without the two quarterbacks, it’s easy to see why the Broncos are -3.5 favorites to win at home on Monday Night. If you want to be a great player, you ignore the noise and get yourself ready to play. The Denver Broncos have not scored in the second halves of their last two contests; and while it’s not entirely the fault of Brock Osweiler, he leads the offense. Harris and Talib were both named to the Pro Bowl this week because of their typical lockdown work in man-to-man coverage on opposing receivers, but last week they were beaten in their matchups with Pittsburgh’s Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant, with Brown becoming the first receiver to score at Harris’ expense since November 24, 2013.
