Broncos QB Manning has ‘really good’ throwing session
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said Thursday the team will evaluate quarterback Peyton Manning’s progress in his rehabilitation from an injured left foot at the end of the week.
There won’t be a surprise Peyton Manning return on Monday night for the Broncos, as the team announced Wednesday that Manning would be inactive for Week 16.
Manning returned to practice on a limited basis last week, but suffered a setback and had to sit out last Friday. He was ruled out against the Steelers. It’ll fall on quarterback Brock Osweiler and that Broncos defense to make sure a collapse is prevented.
Earlier in the week, Kubiak said Manning would have a “big” workout on Saturday. “He worked really hard this morning – well, he worked every morning, but he worked really had this morning conditioning-wise and throwing wise”, said Kubiak, who watched Manning’s Saturday work in person.
With a long week to get healthy, the Broncos clearly feel like Osweiler is ready to go. It’s just, ‘Let’s go, let’s have a good week, let’s work, ‘ and that’s what he did. I show my emotion inside the white lines, and when I leave the field, I’m pleased with the win but I try to never get too high or too low.
Broncos pass rusher DeMarcus Ware was a full participant in practice all week and was listed as probable for the Monday Night Football affair. But in the second half, he was just 7-for-26 passing and had an interception; Denver was shut out, and the Steelers came back.
“To be clear, I am recanting any such statements and there is no truth to any statement of mine that Al Jazeera plans to air”, Sly said.
Another troubling report for Peyton Manning: The Broncos are reportedly Brock Osweiler’s team now.
Osweiler said his shoulder was OK and he could see clearly enough “to find the open receiver”.
As for the idea of a quarterback controversy, Kubiak says his young starter is handling the outside distractions well. “He’s doing everything that we ask him to do and he’s doing it because he wants to do it”. “That’s football. I’m very confident in Demaryius and Vernon”.
