Broncos To Start Brock Osweiler In Week 16
But what the Broncos need is for Osweiler – and the offense – be more like its first-half selves than what they have been in the second half.
Coach Gary Kubiak informed the team Wednesday that Osweiler will make his sixth straight start Monday night. It’s not known whether Manning will be on the sidelines as Osweiler’s back-up when the Broncos play the Chargers, although Manning has indicated he will accept the role.
Manning has been recovering from a torn plantar fascia and is already working his way to returning to action.
Kubiak said Osweiler was “sore today… and all indications are that he’ll be OK”.
Whether his foot is ready or not, Peyton Manning’s arm and psyche should be fresh for the playoffs.
“So, you’re always out there trying to prove something”.
He had two days of practice work last week, but had soreness in his foot the following day.
Before last week’s game at Pittsburgh, Bolden had participated in limited reps on both Wednesday and Thursday before sitting out Friday and ultimately missing the game. I’d take a rusty Peyton Manning who’s been part of the offense, part of the meetings and has been taking part in practices for the past three weeks than a gimpy legged, hobbled up Manning…Anytime, anywhere!!!!
“I need to shut up”, Kubiak told reporters.
“I think the guys will tell you I play with a lot of passion and hopefully a lot of the excitement for them”. I like that routine, so that’s what we’re going to do this week.
Manning is making significant physical progress.
Osweiler banged up his left (non-throwing) shoulder when he scrambled for 7 yards in the second quarter against the Steelers last weekend and he awoke Tuesday morning with a left eye infection. A Bengals win will secure the AFC North title and the other first-round bye.
“It’s OK”, Osweiler said. He has played for 17 years at the highest level, accumulating 71,871 yards, 539 touchdowns and a 96.5 QB rating in that time. I’m not the only one. “It came on yesterday”.
The idea of starting the younger, more athletic Brock Osweiler is also going to be a factor to seriously consider. “I’m going to go see the doctor this afternoon and hopefully we can get it fixed”. “It’s good enough to find the open receiver”.
