Bronx Man Attacked By Suspects Who Yelled “ISIS! ISIS!”
The NYPD is investigating the attack as a hate crime.
The young girl was unharmed but traumatized by the attack.
The man was attacked when he was just trying to walk his 9-year-old niece home from her Bronx school, PS 119, when the hateful masked brutes jumped him around 5:30 pm on Friday.
He was punched several times in the head, knocked down and kicked by two men who yelled “Isis, Isis” as they mounted their assault. “I never heard of ISIS before this attack”. The suspects took off without taking a single thing from Rahman.
“She could not sleep”, they told NY1. “She said she didn’t want to go back to school anymore”.
When they arrived they found a 43-year-old man dressed in a shalwar kameez who had bruises on his head and face.
The Washington Post noted that Muslim centres of worship across the U.S. have become the targets of hate crimes and vandalism in recent months.
A law enforcement official said the girl was believed to be his niece.
“Blood was everywhere – nonstop”, added the victim’s brother, Mohammed.
The attack is one of an increasing number of hate crimes popping up around the country – from NY to San Diego to Pittsburgh – amid rising anxiety over the threat posed by the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, which has claimed responsibility for militant attacks around the world.
“The people of the Bronx are united in their condemnation of this abhorrent incident”, he said.
