‘Brooklyn’ Star Saoirse Ronan Gets Ready for Oscars, Broadway Debut
Indeed, the actress chose an emerald green sequined plunging gown by Calvin Klein Collection specifically to honor her Irish heritage.
The Irish beauty, who is making her second trip to the Oscars after being nominated for best supporting actress in Atonement in 2007, is nominated this year for best actress for her performance in Brooklyn. This daring dress is at the top of our Oscars best dressed list.
The movie sees Saoirse Ronan take on the central role of Eilis, young Irish women who sets out to find a new life for herself in America.
Mindy Kaling, star of The Mindy Project TV show, wore an off-the shoulder black-and-blue Elizabeth Kennedy gown and said she was thrilled to be at this year’s Academy Awards. Ms Ronan was born in the Bronx, New York, but moved to Ireland when she was a young child.
Ronan revealed the secret to surviving the Oscars – eat a lot beforehand. “I didn’t want to think about what I was wearing to the Oscars before being nominated – I’m very superstitious”. She said that everyone in the USA has “come from somewhere else”.
She explained: “It’s a surreal experience anyway, and to at least be able to stand aside something that you really believe in and you’re really proud of, it makes it real and it makes it authentic, I suppose”.
“Calvin Klein made it for me”, she told ABC.
