Browns clean house, fire coach Mike Pettine, GM Ray Farmer

Pettine wrapped up his second season as the team’s head coach with a 28-12 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and was set for a meeting with team brass after the game.

So we assume this directive comes straight from owner Jimmy Haslam. “We take full responsibility and understand you expect better from us”.

Browns coach Mike Pettine, who is expected to be fired following the finale, said last week that Manziel needs to address personal issues.

The Browns are such a colossal, chaotic mess, so directionless, so without a core of talent, that finding a coach willing to take over this team – finding a good one, I should say – is far, far beyond Haslam’s scope. Farmer was suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season for violating the league’s electronic device policy by sending text messages to Pettine’s coaching staff discussing play calling during games previous year.

Black Monday doesn’t begin for a few more hours, but a couple of teams have gotten a head start on the action by firing their head coaches on Sunday night. “I know they’re excited about 8-8 and we’re excited they got us in”.

Manziel was not required to be at the Browns’ season-ending game against Pittsburgh, but his missed treatment and his off-field behavior the past month has not endeared him to the team.

“I don’t think, however, quarterback was the problem on the team this year”. The guys on the business side want to run football operations.

As long as Haslam is cleaning house with Farmer and Pettine, he should sweep Manziel into his dustpan, too.

Browns tackle Joe Thomas, who has seen five coaches come through the building since 2007, said this was not Pettine’s fault. Marrone chose to opt out of his contract and ended up coaching the offensive line this season as well as being the assistant head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“I’m not into pleading”, he said.

Rumors regarding Johnny Manziel and his tenure with the Cleveland Browns have been running rampant lately, and his time with the team could soon be coming to an end. Earlier today, The Inquisitr reported on the Las Vegas situation, and it appeared as though Manziel had cleared everything up and was on good terms with the Browns.
