Browns QB Josh McCown injured again; Cleveland signing Terrelle Pryor before

Manziel would have started against the Ravens, but he was punished for lying to his coaches about the timing of videos of him partying when they showed up on the Internet on November 23.

The team announced it will start Austin Davis – not Manziel – against the Bengals this Sunday in a clear indication that at least some members of the Browns’ power structure are intent on teaching Manziel a lesson.

“We’ll watch the tape and discuss that [Tuesday]”, Pettine said Monday night.

The Cleveland Browns once again have a decision to make at quarterback after Josh McCown was ruled out for the rest of the season. “We expect him to play well”.

Davis was subbing for an injured Josh McCown in Monday’s loss to the Ravens, and was 7-of-10 passing for 77 yards.

Davis threw a tying touchdown pass and moved the Browns into position for a winning field goal, but Travis Coons’ 51-yard attempt was blocked by the Ravens and returned by Will Hill 64 yards for a TD as time expired.

Maybe this decision to go with Davis over Manziel for Sunday’s game at the Cincinnati Bengals is further punishment for Manziel, and maybe Pettine will pick his quarterback on a week-to-week basis. He actually cost the Browns a timeout at the end of the game because he slid instead of going out of bounds. Either way, he played well enough to earn the starting nod over Manziel, who still needs to make up for his actions.

“I certainly have my own that I’ll keep private at this point”, Pettine said. That means that Manziel, who was demoted to third string quarterback, potentially gets another chance to step on the field this season. He spent training camp with the Browns as a wide receiver before being waived September 10.

Like I said my last time up here, I am proud of the way Terrelle has handled things. He has completed 59.4 percent of his passes this year with five touchdowns, two interceptions and a rating of 88.4. Re-signing with the Browns would give him another opportunity to prove he can be a capable wide receiver at the next level after several up-and-down stints under center with a few different teams. His 42-yard touchdown pass to Benjamin tied the score 27-27 with 1:47 left.
