Browns ‘Strongly Considering’ Taking Mitch Trubisky No. 1 Overall
Many in northeast OH would love to see the Browns draft the hometown guy, who starred at Mentor High School, but Trubisky is prepared to play wherever he has to when the commissioner calls his name next month in Philadelphia.
The good news for the Browns is the first round of the draft begins 49 days after the league year begins.
Brown and the Browns are listening to all offers for the No. 1 overall pick.
It’s understandable to see why the Browns would have interest in Trubisky given his upside potential, but his limited playing time at North Carolina could be a deterrent for some teams.
“We do like the trade”, Brown said at his Combine press conference on Wednesday. He served as a 6-foot-4-inch, 225-pound weapon under center when needed, both as a passer and runner.
“As an organization we’ll do anything and everything we need to do to make sure that we see all the guys that we feel like have a chance to play for us”, Jackson said.
Minutes later, Jackson was asked what the threshold would be in terms of a minimum height he seeks in a passer. Trubisky has made just 13 starts for the Tar Heels at quarterback.
Trubisky already met with the Browns informally and said he had a formal meeting planned with them later on March 3.
Browns head of football operations Sashi Brown doesn’t sound like a man who’s holding grudges against Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett or Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson for joking at Cleveland’s expense.
The Browns like what they have in Jamie Collins. But the majority of the guys that have played have been 6-2 or a little bit better.
Go ahead, draft a 1-year college starter who’s team lost the freaking Sun Bowl to a Stanford team without Christian McCaffrey.
INDIANAPOLIS-Ryan Tannehill is expected to be ready for the Miami Dolphins’ offseason program after missing the final four games of last season because of a sprained left knee.
Some may have questions about this year’s quarterback class in the National Football League draft, but two of the guys who lead the way at the position both believe they’re ready to play as National Football League rookies.
– Stanford’s Christian McCaffrey is another one of the draft’s top running backs, and he told reporters that he thinks “people are underestimating me this year”. If last season was any indication, sitting on ones hands until the 11th hour is not the best course of action for retaining talent previously deemed to be a priority. Just like Garrett, Allen is a player that the Browns can build their defense around.
