Bruton played last 3 quarters on broken leg
The Broncos are hopeful that they can get players like Ward back on the field to make up for it. They could also potentially use corner Kayvon Webster at safety; there was some talk of doing that before the year started. This week Bruton should win a Badge of Courage.
Denver Broncos safety David Bruton played most of Sunday’s game with a broken leg, according to coach Gary Kubiak.
Bruton was injured when he collided with cornerback Aqib Talib with 1:58 left in the first quarter on an incomplete pass to Martavis Bryant.
“It’s awesome what David did”, Kubiak said.
The Broncos have an extra day to heal some of their walking wounded since they don’t play until next Monday night when they host the AFC North leading Cincinnati Bengals. “It’s wonderful what David did, but he’s done it all year long”.
Bruton suffered the injury on the 15th defensive snap. That would have meant Bruton played 63 plays on a fractured leg. Ward and Darian Stewart already out with injury, and losing him would have been an even bigger blow; I’m sure that crossed his mind when deciding whether to take himself out of the game. Bruton missed the Broncos’ game last week against Oakland with partial tears in his posterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments.
