Bryan Bickell Placed on Waivers by Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks placed the bruising forward on waivers Friday after failing to find a trade partner.
The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the Blackhawks did not include Bickell as part of their roster moves Friday.
The move would save the Blackhawks $950,000 in cap space, but they would still carry a $3.05 million cap hit on their National Hockey League roster because of rule changes in the last National Hockey League Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Bickell has played with the Blackhawks in each of the past eight seasons, playing on three Stanley Cup-winning teams in 2010, 2013 and 2015, though his name does not appear on the Cup with the 2010 team. The Chicago Blackhawks lead the best-of-seven games series against the Tampa Bay Lightning 1-0. He had 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 80 games last season.
The vertigo followed Bickell around for much of the offseason, too, frustrating the 6-foot-4, 233-pound winger.
