Bryant might call it a career after season
Los Angeles Lakers coach Byron Scott said he changed Kobe Bryant’s use starting with the Lakers’ victory at the Barclays Center on November 6, 2015 in Brooklyn borough of NY City.
The NY Knicks acquired him in the 2013 offseason after the Lakers waived him.
Sunday’s game could be Bryant’s last time at Madison Square Garden as a player. He’s been averaging 16.5 points per game so far in the season.
Back in January 2014, Kobe Bryant said he had no interest in participating in the 2016 Olympics, teasing that he might head to Rio de Janeiro as a spectator to see then-teammate “Pau [Gasol] win another silver medal”.
Galloway drained a three-pointer with two minutes remaining for a two-point Knicks lead and the hosts never trailed again on the way to their first home win of the season. Yet even if he thinks these are his last trips, don’t count on him squeezing in a stop on South Beach to test a restaurant recommendation, or hop over to Walt Disney World for souvenir shopping.
He entered the game with the highest scoring average at the Garden of any active player at 30.7 points per game in 15 games. “I feel very, very fortunate to be able to have a few of my best performances here in this building”.
Bryant did walk back his words slightly after the loss to the Knicks Sunday, saying that his mind had yet to be made up. “MVP!” chants while shooting free throws and fans were noticeably bummed when he missed shots – which must’ve seemed odd to Anthony, who was often defending him.
Bryant is referring to Phil Jackson’s offensive system that he ran in Los Angeles as a coach, and has now implemented in NY as a team president.
Yet Bryant couldn’t match all the fanfare in crunch time, and struggled when it counted most, finishing 6-of-19 with 18 points.
The Black Mamba is shooting 32% from the field in the first six games of the season. Porzingis had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Rumors about Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant has been circulating around the league as he approaches the last term of his two-year $48.5 million contract with the club.
“It would mean the world to me to be around those guys”, Bryant said in an interview with The Associated Press.
“I would like to play”, Bryant said. “I’m a Laker for life”, he said.
“We’re not getting the big scoring from one of the (reserve) guys”, Scott said, “and when you kind of look at those guys, you say that it has to kind of come from Nick and Lou”. This is the first leg of the Lakers’ first back-to-back of the season.
