Bryant University Building Under Construction Collapses
Public safety agencies are on the scene at Bryant University responding to a building collapse on the campus of the Smithfield, R.I., school, officials said Tuesday.
Six people were transported to Rhode Island Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Work equipment was entangled in the collapsed structure. He said he heard a loud noise of steel crashing and then a short time later emergency sirens. O’Neil said all work at the site was paused until the investigation could be completed.
Sounds like a building collapsed at Bryant University in Smithfield.
A/Z Corp. Construction Management of North Stonington, Connecticut, is managing the construction, O’Neil said. A woman who answered the phone says the company was “not aware of any building collapse” and was not taking any calls. Classes are not yet in session at Bryant University, but are scheduled to being on September 8. Construction had just began for the day when something happened, causing steel to fall over.
The university is 12 miles outside of Providence.
