Buckeyes are unanimous No. 1 in preseason AP poll
Alabama returns 12 starters from last season’s team that finished 12-2 and reached the Allstate Sugar Bowl in the semifinal round of college football’s first ever playoff.
There’s only one more Saturday between us and Alabama football.
The Associated Press released its preseason poll Sunday afternoon, and the Buckeyes were a unanimous No. 1 according to the 61 voters. The Vols are slotted at 25 in the preseason poll, which was released Sunday.
Georgia Tech makes an appearance in the preseason Associated Press Poll for the first time since 2010. The Buckeyes were No. 5 in the preseason poll previous year. A panel of 60 sports writers and broadcasters from around the country votes on the poll weekly.
8 – SEC has eight teams ranked for the third time, the most by any conference.
Notre Dame is No. 11, followed by Clemson, UCLA, LSU, Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Stanford, Arizona, Boise State, Missouri and Tennessee. Ohio State was unanimously voted to the top spot. Mississippi State and Texas A&M also received votes but were unable to crack the top 25.
