Bucks overpower Pistons, 109-88
Bucks F Greg Monroe spent his first five National Basketball Association seasons with the Pistons, averaging 14.3 points and 9.2 rebounds in 391 games. That doesn’t solve the Bucks’ bigger problems, but it ended the second embarrassing skid of the season and left them with a respectable 6-8 record, given all their early-season injuries.
A total of seven players scored in double figures for the Bucks (6-8).
“We’re trying to look for somebody there that will play”, Van Gundy said after the game.
“We came out and got spanked”, guard Reggie Jackson said. “So you have to get used to each other and you can see they’re starting to get used to one another”.
He accomplished everything he wanted, scoring 20 points and adding 13 rebounds as the Bucks were finally on the right side of a blowout, beating the Detroit Pistons 109-88. The young pivot still has a lot of room for improvement and as he matures, so should all aspects of his game, hopefully he’ll learn to stay out of his own head and keep his focus on the team’s overall performance and not just his own.
“I think you have to accept the inevitability of nights where you don’t play great, I think you have to accept the inevitability where you don’t shoot great, I never accept the inevitability of a night not bringing a proper effort”, Van Gundy said.
After a fast start, the Pistons are mostly treading water as tonight marks their eighth road game in their last ten. “They just happens to be the only other team I have played for”.
The Bucks had lost three straight and five of six.
Pistons center Andre Drummond scored 15 points – all in the first half. “We probably should have not played him because he was never a hundred percent after that”. Sacramento was outscored 38-21 in the fourth quarter and needed a Rudy Gay layup as time expired to send the game to the extra session. “We crumbled (Saturday) … we’ve got to work on some of the things we’re not doing, and that’s rebounding the ball and getting back on defense.”BUZZER BEATERS1”.
