Bucks snap Warriors long win streak (AUDIO)
The last week or so, with the road trip, we just found ways to win games.
Milwaukee, bottom of the Central Division, was an unlikely candidate to end Golden State’s winning run, but got an all-round effort from the team, led by 28 points from Greg Monroe.
What did the Warriors do wrong?
“It starts with our defense”, Kidd said. Curry scored 28 with seven rebounds and five assists but backcourt mate Klay Thompson was off after missing Friday’s double-overtime game in Boston with a sprained ankle. Instead, he began the final frame with Jason Thompson and Festus Ezeli in the frontcourt, with no spacers in sight.
As the final buzzer sounded, confetti fell from the rafters in Milwaukee, an oddity for a regular-season National Basketball Association game in December.
But the Bucks had an answer every time the Warriors threatened to take the lead. The Pacers were thought to be a fair bet to be the ones who finally knocked the Dubs from their undefeated perch, but the visitors quickly showed us all the folly in such thinking. – Walton, when asked if there a sense of relief that the winning streak had ended. The Bucks led 80-77 to start the 4th quarter before running away to a win.
Green even made sure of that, speaking up immediately afterward to the crew that had accomplished so much. Finding a lineup that can balance his abilities as a post scorer with his deficiencies as a defender would go a long way towards turning around the Bucks season. “It has been kind of a playoff feel with the streak and all the media and the attention around”.
“Then we turned it up and got back in the game”.
“I just told the guys that now we can have a regular season”, he told reporters in Milwaukee.
“We didn’t have it tonight”, interim coach Luke Walton said. “That’s why it is so hard to do what these guys have done so far”. And clean a few things up.
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving, who is on the mend from surgery on his left knee in June, won’t make his season debut on Tuesday when the Cavs face the Celtics, coach David Blatt said. “We missed a lot of shots we would (normally) make”. Though their loss was seen more of a bag shooting night by some, the fact remains that they are human with all the unforced turnovers they had at the time, as singled out via USA Today. It included two sets of back-to-backs, including the game against the Bucks a night after winning a double-overtime thriller against the Celtics. Which means that Golden State still has something to shoot for and the Lakers record of winning 33 games in a row is still in tack for now.
But the Bucks had an answer each time.
But what should be taken seriously here is the fact that he and the Warriors could have prevented it in the first place. “We can’t sleep, ‘” the New York Knicks guard said. And now they come home to play five games over the next 16 days. “I would be cheating the situation, I would be cheating the progress by worrying about a Christmas Day game when we’re not there yet”, James said.
“We have this road trip and another at the end of the month. So defensively we can hold our own”.
Starting with Wednesday’s visit from the 11-14 Phoenix Suns, there’s little reason to doubt the Warriors won’t string together more wins. So long, streak. It was nice while it lasted.
