Budweiser didn’t pay for Manning’s post-Super Bowl shout out
“I can talk to my other friends about the games, but they don’t get the emotion behind it”, Adoue said. More yards, more touchdowns, more wins, etc. You name it, Peyton has dominated Eli in pretty much every facet of the game…
One of the first things out of Peyton Manning’s mouth after his Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 50 was this: “I’m going to drink a lot of Budweiser tonight”.
First: kiss his wife and kids. But now, following the Broncos’ 24-10 victory over the Panthers, the brothers are tied in Lombardi Trophies, 2-2.
“Budweiser did not pay Peyton Manning to mention Budweiser tonight”, said Anheuser-Busch spokeswoman Lisa Weser.
“You know, I’ll take some time to reflect”, Manning replied. “I promise you that”.
Manning tried to lighten the mood with a few jokes, but then started to get really emotional after talking about his feelings toward the game and his journey in the NFL.
So just as sharing an embrace with pizza impresario “Papa” John Schnatter on the field was something of a business move for Manning (he owns numerous franchises), sharing his Bud craving was too.
Budweiser’s brewing company, Anheuser-Busch, was ecstatic about the shout-out. But with retirement rumors swirling, Manning’s backing brands should enjoy it while it lasts.
