Buffalo, Pittsburgh, St. Louis finalists for 2018 WJC
USA Hockey will officials will visit the there remaining cities during October and make a final decision on which city will host the tournament by January, according to the release.
Louis are the other two finalists.
USA Hockey announced Tuesday that the three finalists to host the 2018 World Junior Championship are Buffalo, Pittsburgh and St. Louis.
The St. Louis bid is structured around the Scottrade Center downtown, as well as the 9,600-seat Family Center in St. Charles, Missouri. In the past, St. Louis has served as host for the 2007 NCAA Frozen Four college hockey championship tournament, the 2011 NCAA Regional Final and also is host for the 2017 NCAA Women’s Frozen Four college hockey championship. It will mark the sixth time that the games are held in the United States. “St. Louis is a great city that really rises to the occasion for these great amateur events”.
The Sabres and the city of Buffalo last hosted the tournament in 2011.
The World Juniors is the most prestigious global competition in the world at that level, featuring top prospects 19-under.
