Individually, graduated senior Karleigh Parker, sophomore Sandra Akachukwu and freshman Ria Moellers were recognized on USTFCCCA All-Academic Team as a result of their success on the track and in the classroom.
McNeese track and field-s Lauren Thompson and John Lemke have been named Academic All-American by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) while the Cowgirls squad earned all-academic team honors. “Thanks to Dr. Nancy Kaplan & Eric Rienecker who head up our athletic center for academic excellence and to Nik Berisha for all his good work & support he gives directly in working with our team”. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have either participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships during the outdoor season or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event during the indoor season.
Cheserek was one of nine Oregon men to be named USTFCCCA All-Academic list.
The Saints women were tied for the seventh-highest grade point average of the 170 women’s teams at 3.60, while the men were 22nd of 99 teams with a 3.38 grade point average. Oregon won its first outdoor title in 30 year, while it’s contingent of NCAA competitors carried a 3.19 combined GPA.
Johnson graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.34 as a film major for the Hilltoppers and qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Championships in the triple jump.
