Bugatti Confirms Chiron Name, Debuts At 2016 Geneva Motor Show
But the arrival of the new vehicle and official confirmation of its name and reveal date puts to rest worries that the ongoing emissions scandal could have resulted in the Chiron being cut, reports Evo.
The Bugatti Chiron will officially replace the Veyron as the world’s greatest modern supercar, with a debut for the Chiron at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. That suggests a peak power output of more than 1200bhp will come with a sub-three second 0 to 62mph time; expect the new auto to continue beyond the old car’s 268mph top speed too. An incredible 1,627bhp and 1,500Nm of torque is reported from a hybrid adaptation of the Veyron’s 8.0-litre W16 engine.
Bugatti have already received over 100 orders following a series of exclusive customer events. The vehicle is set to be named after Louis Chiron, the most successful Bugatti works driver of all time. The people at Bugatti say that these prototypes are being tested on a variety of roads and in different climate conditions all part of a rigorous testing program that is unprecedented in this segment. This is necessary to make the Chiron “significantly better” than its predecessor, according to the company’s President Wolfgang Dürheimer.
The hypercar will be unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and we will have more information about the auto then.
“In Louis Chiron, we found a worthy patron for a new model in the history of our brand”. But Bugatti’s design boss also claims this “progressive design language will give an impressive demonstration of the path to be taken by Bugatti design over the next few years”. So far, the feedback has been “outstanding”. And despite still being in development, over 100 orders have already been taken down.
The Chiron is believed to get 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels teamed up with tailor-made Michelin Pilot Sport PAX tires.
