Buhari charges ministers-designate to be drivers of change
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday declared two days retreat for his ministers-designate, asking them to be drivers of change his administration want to bring into the country.
He urged Nigerians to be patient and wait for the President to swear in the ministers.
The retreat held inside the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja with the theme, “Delivering Change: From precepts to practice”.
Speaking to State House correspondents after the briefing session, Ahmad said the continental shelf project was meant to gain for Nigeria additional maritime territory of 104,000 kilometres.
President Muhammadu Buhari has called on the worldwide community to urgently evolve and implement more effective collaborative measures to enhance global security. It is expected that we make the running of Government at all levels as lean as possible, avoid waste and conserve resources.
The president observed that the expectation of Nigerians was high and as such the work of restoration and renewal was urgent, adding that the determination of government officials to succeed and change the fortunes of the country must be equal to the challenge. I would also expect you to be even more determined to work as a team, and to live up to the high standards of probity and integrity which Nigerians expect of us.
Babajide Omoworare, who sponsored the motion, said the probe should account for every amount spent on SURE-P and other poverty alleviation programmes by the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
He spoke of the need for them to have a better understanding of the context, in which they have agreed to serve the country and the strategies they need to adopt to tackle challenges.
He further vowed to keep fighting corruption, solve unemployment problems, tackle insecurity and also diversify the economy for sustainable growth.
The President said that attention would be focused on mining and agriculture and the building of infrastructure to broaden the country’s revenue base and create jobs.
He however reminded them that the official channel of communication between with the Presidency in line with the requirements of the Presidential system is through the office of the Chief of Staff.
