The club left a message on its Facebook page regarding the tragedy: “Thoughts are with the family of Bulls defender Ethan McKen who has tragically been swept out to sea whilst holidaying in Bulgaria”.
A British tourist has been reported missing in Bulgaria after reportedly getting into difficulties during a morning swim.
He was travelling with a group of five friends.
A spokesman from Club 18-30, which is owned by Thomas Cook, said one of its customers staying at its Sunny Beach resort went missing on Saturday morning shortly after arriving on holiday with a group of five friends.
While his friend made it back to the shore, McKen couldn’t be saved.
“His friend tried to grab him but couldn’t”.
Ethan’s parents, who are separated, are flying out to Bulgaria on Monday with other relatives.
His swimming partner is understood to be recovering in a local medical centre.
The Department of Foreign Affairs have confirmed that they’re providing consular assistance to the man’s family.
Sunny Beach is the biggest resort in Bulgaria with the longest and widest beach strip and hotels spread along the sea front.
“Club 18-30 reps in the resort are offering every support to the members of the party who travelled to Sunny Beach …”
Talented footballer Ethan, from Nottingham, was a defender for Bulwell FC in the Central Midlands Football League.
The city, which has a population of over 230,000, is popular with tourists but is also the largest cargo port in the country.
