Bulgarian woman attacked with acid in India
A 23-year-old Russian national was on Friday injured in an acid attack allegedly by her boyfriend following a quarrel between them.
The police say the man threw a bottle of acid on the woman after an argument. The two had recently travelled together to Ladakh.
An FIR has been registered and further investigation into the case is on, said Kulhary.
In February, a Japanese woman accused a tour guide of drugging and raping her in the historic city of Jaipur.
The police official said that she belongs to Varna in Bulgaria. She was attacked by acid by the son of the landlord. “I can not disclose the name of the victim, we have informed the embassy and trying to reach her family”, said Akaash Kulhari, SSP, Varanasi.
Police also said that Siddharth bought acid 2 or 3 days ago. “There is a bill in his name as well”, he added. The incident took place while she was asleep; it is the latest in the series of acid attacks on woman tourists.
The victim was identified as Darya Yurieva, it is reported that she has been in India for about four months now.
