Bulls advance to Summer League finals, will play Timberwolves
Chicago has notched a couple of blowouts, but against decent competition, the Bulls have won close games.
Powell, who was named to the first team in his Summer League debut past year, led the Raptors in scoring in each of their five games, averaging 19.8 points per game, which was good for ninth. With that being said, if the Timberwolves wanted to make any impact in the summer league, “veteran” players such as Tyus Jones, and Adrian Payne had to step up to pick up the load of the fallen Kris Dunn.
Silas was the oldest player on the Timberwolves’ summer-league team at 28 years and six-plus months, but that didn’t stop him from filling the stat sheet.
As the 2016 NBA Summer League wraps up, it’s time to look back at some of the biggest trends that emerged. The No. 24 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft sported the “Australia” iteration of the shoe, boasting a teal, green strike, radiant emerald, and metallic red bronze color palette. The 67-game event featured 23 teams as well as the National Basketball Association D-League Select team.
Two of Jones’ best performances came in the final five games of the season. Beau Beech had 15 points and seven rebounds off the bench, Yogi Ferrell (10 points) was the only other Net in double-figures, and Chris McCullough had a team-high 10 boards. Although the prototypical point guard size is growing, many competent floor generals are small.
Timberwolves point guard Tyus Jones is sending a clear message: He is ready to take the next step.
Still, Jones’ 2016-17 outlook isn’t pretty.
