Bulls deny shopping Jimmy Butler
The Minnesota Timberwolves and Chicago Bulls have again broken off trade talks centered on a deal of Jimmy Butler for the draft rights to Kris Dunn.
The Bulls are focusing on making a team around Butler after 2011 MVP Derrick Rose’s decline due to injuries, but many analysts said that Chicago is better off blowing up the team, starting with trading the All-Star guard, via thesource.com.
Forman said the Bulls night went as well as expected from a draft standpoint.
If Gar Forman and John Paxson has their way, the only Bulls reports would come from some weird government run network that mostly features footage of the duo riding around in fields on horses. “And we’ve talked about. we value Jimmy Butler”. The Bulls are very high on Kris Dunn, but they reportedly wanted Zach LaVine instead of Rubio. We’ve got a terrific basketball player who’s an All-Star, an all-NBA defender, is still young.
Whether or not the Bulls trade Butler, Chicago’s roster should look a lot different for the 2016-17 season. We like Jimmy Butler, we did not shop Jimmy Butler. Obviously, we’ve got him under contract long term-those are all positives. Of course we did, and that’s our job to listen to calls. “And we never felt we were presented with anything where we would consider moving Jimmy”. We get calls on a lot of our players, and that’s stuff that happens all throughout the league.
Boston was reportedly shopping forward Jae Crowder – Butler’s former college teammate at Marquette – and guard Avery Bradley in addition to having extra draft picks to spice up a deal.
But the Bulls, sources say, ultimately decided not to go ahead with a deal in which they’d be forced to surrender Butler, just one day after completing a blockbuster trade with NY that sent Derrick Rose to the Knicks. All’s I can tell you is exactly what happened. “We’re not looking to move Jimmy”.
